Might I recommend one of the water extingiushers with the addition of a "fuel buster" like foam. On the FD we used one on a fully involved car fire and it knocked it down and all that was left were a few hot spots. With the addition of the foam it makes the water compatable with gas and oil fires. You can recharge and maintain the them your selves. The down side is they freeze in the winter, so they work the best in summer fun trucks. In the FD we have one on all of the rescure trucks and it is pulled out at every PI when extrication is needed.
