Question for "old tire man"

Mike,

In response to my question yesterday about tires for a jeep, you said

"jeep is fairly light so you could use bar type ice chains all the time as opposed to hwy type with no vbar"

I don't know much about chains. Can you explain the difference in the two chain types you mentioned, and why one would be used as opposed to the other?

Also, where should I go to buy chains? Will a NAPA sell them? Where else?
