Front diff. drain plug size on 55PW??

Gentlemen,
Does anyone know the size and type of socket or drive that can be used to remove the front diffential drain plug on a 55 Power Wagon? It seems that a 1/2 inch socket driver is just a tad too small. The drain is in tightly and I don't want to strip it.
