Not sure what the LU-2 capacity is in relation to the MU-2, but there are formulas out there to calculate the capacity from the drum dimension.
The chain and chain hook are for making a loop without damaging the cable; kinking the cable w the hook is damaging.
I think the standard for PWs is 3/8" chain; most appear to be 8 - 10' long. A 3/8" chain gives you approx a 2:1 safety factor for the 10,000 pull of an MU-2.
VPW sells this chain rig for $100 which I thought was high until I priced proof tested alloy chainsets in Grainger. Ouch. But then I don't want a Northern Hydraulics Chinese chain aimed at me under 8k lbs of stress either ...
