Some virus do not require the attachment to be opened. They can get very nasty and do a lot of damage. Klez, so far, does not seem to be really distructive but it has cost people a lot of time and uses lots of computer resources. At some point the idiot who wrote it will bragg to the wrong person or they will be tracked down.
