I suspect that Microsoft Outlook is the favorite target for virus writers because it is the biggest target and affects a greater number of users. Besides that, it takes more brains to hack Linex or Mac.
One thing you can do if you have outlook is to take full advantage of the message rules feature of their email. It is very easy to set a rule (or rules) up from the drop down menu's and you can have all emails fitting a pattern dropped directly in your deleted folder. For instance, I have a rule that puts all email from my mom directly into a personal folder named Mom. You can create as many personal folders as you want and have the computer sort them as they come in. It really only takes a minute to set up and save tons of time and also helps to prevent those accidental deletions of Uncle Louie's mail that came in between two usless garbage.com offers.
You can also take advantage of the "Block Sender" option when the email is coming from an obnoxious jokes.com or other spammer. This will prevent any messages from ever showing up on your screen again. While the message is open, click on message, then block sender. Its that easy. I block about two sites a week now and it is under control.
Just a thought
