Knuckle Felt/Plastic Seal

Can the big round inner red-colored felt/plastic seal used to hold the grease in the knuckle on a WM300 be changed without tearing the knuckle apart? It has a split in it but I wouldn't think it could bend far enough to go around the axle. Thanks
