OK guys I need all your help on this one. I recently purchased a 251 Spitfire motor, Braden MU-2, trans with PTO, PTO shaft, and bumper. I bought the motor because the seller wanted to package it in with the rest of the stuff I wanted (PTO, shaft, winch, and bumper). I will put the motor up for sale. His truck was a ’54 FF, but I have no reason to believe that the equipment was original on his truck. The PTO did not have the control lever mounted on a bracket on the PTO itself, rather it was mounted on a bracket on the back of the trans. Is this a 1st-gen or a 2nd-gen PTO? The trans it is mounted on has a number on the left side of the case that may be a build date: 8-6-45. On the side of the trans is the number C38126 and on top of the trans, the number C38123. Is this a 1st-gen trans? I assumed that the PTO and trans originally came together, but I should not. The reason I ask is because I bought the stuff for my ’50 B-2 PW, which has the original 1stgen trans, and no PTO or winch. I strongly believe that the floor is original on my truck, and the slot in the floor of my PW for the PTO lever is just to the left of the shifter, but the PTO I bought will put the lever about 9” back and 4” to the left of the shifter. Will this work on my truck? Should I just cut another hole in the floor further back? Thank you everyone for your help here and sorry Joe for the HUGE message.
