I am not what one would call mechanically inclined, nor am I in any way coordinated enough to threaten the career of the lowliest bush league player, (imagine a shorter, heavier, bearded Barney Fife running the bases....). In fact, in High School, I earned the nickname "Altered Yates" because the way I ran reminded someone of William Hurst transformed character in the movie "Altered States"
Anyhow, despite my shortcomings, I somehow managed to learn to double clutch in an afternoon. It may be I had an unfair advantage - watching someone else do it in my truck for about 15 minutes or so. Once I got the rhythm down though, it was easy.
In all seriousness - if I can do it I feel sure ANYONE can do it. Now down-shifting without grinding, THAT takes patience, waiting for the engine and tranny to slow down and synch.
Are you sure your clutch, etc, are adjusted properly?
