When applied properly, powder coating will not chip. It will however scratch, dent and fade, if not properly protected. I would not advise powder coating body surfaces' but frame, inner fenders, bumpers, frame brackets etc. engine mounts, intake manifolds, fan blades etc. are perfect for coating.
