I've found this to be true with anything reproduction from VPW.
The OEM equipment they bring in & the NOS stock they have seems good, but I've yet to see ANYTHING reproduction from them that I've found to be usable, & I've bought a lot of it! When you receive their package in the mail, you get all excited, then you open it up & it's like lunch-bag let-down!
Actually it's unfair to single out only VPW, Robert Motors is just as bad. There is NO reproduction being done for these trucks anywhere that is usable I'm afraid. Dennis Sherman is doing good work on the floor plates & running boards, but as for all the Chinese reproduction crap being manufactured, I'll pass. I'll continue to look for NOS, restore original parts or wait for someone else to come along with the drive to reproduce parts that match the quality of the original Mopar parts. Hopefully Dave Maher can start this off with First Series Beds that are PERFECT in every way & indistinguishable from original. If so, they're worth whatever he wants to charge. If not, they'll be worth zilch. Cost is not an issue. I'd rather pay $30 for a quality part than $10 for a piece of Asian, $3/hour garbage.
Sorry to rant & I don't mean to insult the guys at VPW or anywhere else...., but unless someone starts complaining, this crap we're buying will be as good as it ever gets, & that's a depressing thought. I bought a Power Wagon because I felt the quality was second to nothing & I plan to keep mine that way.
