not banging sideways, just directly on the spindle, not on the end of it either the nut is supposed to protect the threads so nothing gets damaged, or at least thats the idea. besides that i have broken several pullers that were designed to do what you're saying, i wish they had worked, i would have had the stinkin thing fixed by now! thanks
