Here at work we used to use a blast cabinet that used water instead of air. Not sure who actually built it, but we called it the Hydro-Hone. It was used to clean metal parts when the dust could be toxic (by-products of our manufacturing tools). The part was blasted, rinsed with clean water, blown with air, baked in an oven to dry and placed back in service. It worked great!
I don't think I would try it without a cabinet, it would make a heck of a mess in the garage or yard!
