Some of you may remember that I encountered a major leak in my oil filter housing seal last week, after starting up my 230 engine for the first time since the rebuild.
Well, as it turns out, all I had to do was scrape off the layer of paint (that I had applied) from the canister surface where the seal seats, and I put the lid back on with the same rubber ring, fired up the engine and no leaks. I ran it up to 2000 rpm for 20 minutes to break in the cam, and for another hour I ran it between idle and 2000 rpm, and no leaks!
Just wanted to pass on the info, so you guys know not to do this. I should have known better, too, I suppose, but at least I got it going now.
