You can try using a bearing/gear seperator under the wheel, but it has to fit close to the column, yet not lock against it. If you feel the bottom of the wheel, you will feel a metal edge that the flat side of the puller will rest against. You then need a two arm puller to pull against it at the top of the steering column. Make sure you put a large bolt in the steering column for the puller to ride against as you turn it. Hope this makes sense.
