One the T214 230 there are two pairs of cylinders that are close together, probably as a result of the original small bores being taken out by generations of engine. On those 230s if you go more than 0.040" over there is an even bigger chance than normal of blowing the head gasket (removing the governor is another good way to do it..)
Later 230s apparently have more meat between those pairs of cylinders and could be taken out more, but anything more than 0.040 on an early 230 and you should sleeve it.
