P 14 or P 15 motors in early 1/2 ton WC's??

I seem to remember someone telling me that some 1/2 ton WCs came with P 15 or P 14 motors instead of the "correct" T207 or T214 motors.

Does anyone else remember this?

What was the deal? I have found a couple of early 1/2 tons in the last few months with P 14 or P15(I can't remember) motors, and after thinking for a long time they were replacement motors, I remembered this little tidbit of info that I read once.

Any and all help would be great!
