I work for the Union Pacific Railroad here in Kansas (Old SP/ConttonBelt) and I cannot stress enough about watching for trains. I see atleast one car a day beat us through the crossing. Sometimes more! I have worked for the railroad for 7 years now and have been involved in 3 vehicle/train accidents. So far no one has been killed but they spent 45 minutes cutting the guy out of a full size chevy pickup and we were going slow. Front point of impact to stop was 38 feet!
Thats no joke Robert! I am a switchman and cars will roll so quite you cant hear a thing and sneak up on you! Always have to be alert!
