Thanks for all the good advice..... I am only looking for a few more cubic inches for more punch.... I guess more bottom end for the long hills.
I have seen to many rods go through the side walls by over revving the engine going down a long hill and letting the weight of the vehicle push the engine beyond it capability.
I will opt for the crank and rod piston from the 265 to ungrade the 251 and will rely on the services of a known marine engine rebuilder familiar with the flat head six for the rods peening, line boring and balancing etc.
I plan to have the head milled just enough to make it straight and raise the comp. ration just a tad.
Ideally I would like to use a governor on the carb but the M37m model would raise the carb set up to high. I may just depend on common sense and a good tachometer.
