Your 400 is a "B" engine, essentially a bored out 383. The 400 was considered a smog engine for many years but there are people building them up now. All B/RB engines will bolt to your bellhousing. B engines are the low deck big blocks of the era (361,383,400). RB engines are the raised deck big blocks of the era (413,426 wedge, 440). Of course a HEMI will bolt up also, just in case your really feeling froggy. Long live the 4-speed. Just say no to an automatic.
