I see requests made on this site from time to time inquiring about how to change resolution and size of photos, what program to use, etc., etc., etc.

Here is a FREE photo handling program that can easily change file types (tif gif jpeg bmp etc.) individually or in a batch, can alter size and resolution, do color balance and contrast, has a slide show, and sorting/moving/copying functions. There are also optional plug-ins for handling other types of formats as well, such as movies. While it does not hae all the bells and whistles of Photoshop, it has 95% of what the average user will need. The print function can be optioned to print to as much area on the paper as possible without having to specify size. While I have Photoshop and other high end programs, Irfanview is faster and easier, so much so I use it probably 10x as much as Photoshop. And the price is right - free.

The program is called Irfanview and can be found at http://www.irfanview.com/

One tip - make sure you use the SAVE AS function and rename you file to something other than the original. This way you can play with all the functions and not lose the original.
