Hi Joe!
I commend you on keeping an eye open for something new. I have been struggling with adding more horsepower to my site, while still keeping the format exactly the same as it is now.
This is what I have learned; the new bells and whistles make it exciting for the tecnophilles, but harder to use for the "seasoned" citizens. (that's me !!)
When the posts are displayed in the way that your Forum now presents them, there is (for whatever reason) a 'sense' of community and some unexplained tie between each of us in addition to our trucks. These threads become linked and the conversation flows.
In the newer formats, organization rules, but the heart and soul of the Forum is lost. It becomes impersonal and structured. I think that there is a strong parallel between the old format and the old trucks that we own. Something that speaks to basics. It is about things that keep on working, but require a little work and a little TLC in return.
If you can find a format that retains the old "look" and makes your job easier, then go for it, but change, just for the sake of change, should not be a goal.
Where else can we get a smile just by reading about a coconut, and a guy named Tugboat, or some kid in Carhartt's bumming rides in M37's at Hollister while wondering what excuse Mac will come up with to get into the Olympics for free???
Thanks for all of your great and hard work!!
MoparNorm
