I tried the spray primer on some home-made gas tank hanger brackets, made out of bare steel. I figure it will be a good test since it should get lots of water, salt, and crud kicked up on it. I welded up the brackets, brushed off loose scale, used their "prep-step", put on 2 thin coats of zero-rust, and top-coated with rustoleum industrial gray (since they say the zero-rust is not uv-stable). It seemed to make a good hard, tight, well-bonded coating. Ask me in 20 years how well it's held up.
