1941, what 4 speed transmission?

My WF-32 has a 4 speed, I'd like to identify it so I can work on it. All of the resources that I have found indicate the NP420 starting production in the 50's, so what did dodge use in the 40's? And, since I'm asking, does anyone know what they used for 1-1/2 ton rear axles?
