I'm guessing that he wants to convert to a 12V Negative ground set up.
Easy to do. 12V alternator(recommend GM 1 wire setup,) new ammeter, 12V battery, new light bulbs, new flashers, new coil, condensor, ballast resistor, and I bet the gas gauge didn't work anyway. Hook up the battery negative ground and you're ready to go. The starter will still turn the right way 'cause it's double wound.
I have my PW set up this way. Not only does it start much easier, it runs better and gives me the option of hooking up various 12V goodies.
