with the torque a diesel puts out at idle the torque converter RPM stalls at about 1100 RPM (except Dodge Cummins,higher stall means LESS torque delivered to the rear,Less warrenty repairs)gas engines need more RPM's to reach the torque peak. ie gas needs a looser converter
