Twenty years ago I bought a reconditioned Devilbiss model 432 compressor on a horizontal tank. It is a big V cylinder arrangement, with finned coolers, and it is so silent when it runs.
Well, this is the part I hate to admit in front of thinking people.... but I only checked the crankcase oil every several years. It never went down and it was always clear.. Just the other day I discovered it was overfull, from condensation. There was a lot of water in the oil.
I checked it because it did not sound right, and discovered this awful truth. Apparently it has ball bearing mains, and I am afraid they have been damaged.
Does anyone know a source for a service manual or any other sort of literature for this compressor? I need to resolve this situation, because the machine is too valuable, and I have too many sentimental attachments to it.
Thanks....
