I'm taking a big chance here but here goes, In a 1964 WM300 with 251 and no gov.,hood,bed,winch,and 5:83 gears, I got the needle to bounce against the 80mph of the speedo. I held it there for approx. 10sec. just to see what it might do. Now I know the speedo was fairly accurate at 55 and under as I checked it by the drive beside method. As far as engine rpms, do the math, it was only doing 4300-4500rpms for those 10 secs. Believe it or not.
