Prefered voltage 6 or 12

Does anyone out their still have a 6 volt system? I just purchased the '46 WDX #241 from John Smith, in the photo classifieds.
I should take delivery the middle of next week. I know 12v gives me more cranking power but does the 6v handle it ok, or not really?
Any input would be helpful.
