I did this while converting to part-time last summer. I am assuming 1/2 ton D44 front axle here, if you have 3/4 ton it might be different.
There is a hole in the brake rotor you can grease the bearing with, this is also the hole to access the bolts holding the bearing flange together, I believe they are 12 point heads, maybe 7/16 socket size? Six of them?, remove all the bolts and the big nut on the end and the rotor/hub/bearings/etc will all come off together. Then pull the shaft and you can replace the u-joints. Good time to replace the ball joints also if they are bad.
