Tom Brokaw beat me to the punch calling those heros "The Greatest Generation",that we all knew, as well as those fallen heros that we honored each May 30th .I well remember those gentlemen standing around the old stove in our shop and my Dad telling me of each of their contributions to freedom after they left . I would never have known of their war wounds had Dad not told me ,for they somehow knew and felt it was contribution to their country that they so loved and did not make a big deal of it . All this reminds me of something I once heard ."Freedom, for those who fought for it, has a taste that the protected will never know" .
