....between '39 and '71 with flat fenders, p.t.o, FWD, dual speed xfer case, that starts, runs and stops. No I'm not too picky.

I like them because of my youthful memory of seeing them roaming around a scout camp in West BY GOD Virginia. The sight of one of those over-built trucks pulling up to the quartermasters with a load of lumber... Another truck might have been bigger, more efficient, or more powerful even, but those big flat fenders, bug-eye headlights perched waaaay up high and the yard tall waffle-stomper tires....

One thing about a Power Wagon, it’s no BABE MAGNET, but the folks that do stop to chat are more interesting and have plenty of good stories.

For me they spell TRUK, the epitome of TRUK, the essence of TRUK, all that is TRUK. The light duty truck attained perfection in 1946, everything else is Madison Avenue elaboration. (Hey! I may make a T-shirt that says that!)

Take any truck you want, Ranchero, Silverado, Tundra, boil it long enough, sooner or later all the externals will melt away, and what will be left? The dim image of perfection, a Dodge Power Wagon.

I prefer the 2nd series bed, but really like the service body and Holmes Dual Boom Wrecker (or am I repeating myself?) In the Bunn "PW Photo Archive" there is a really sweet dump bed pickup body (post '61) with an external visor that looks SHARP as a tack...

in short, anything I don't currently own....
