I purchased a bunch of parts from an acquaintance who is rebuilding his 1954 Flatfender with a motor change. Included were the 265 c.i. Spitfire flathead and transmission. When was the Spifire motor introduced? Which tranny did it come with?
Is it a synchro tranny? Which trans do I already have in my stock 1950 B-2 with the 230? I am trying to figure out if it will be easier to remove the PTO from the tranny on the Spitfire and mount it on my tranny, already in the truck, or if I should put the "spitfire" tranny into my truck with the PTO already on it. If the Spitfire tranny is a sychro gearbox, It will make my decision easier, but If they're both crashboxes, I'll just pull off the PTO and put it on the tranny that is already in my truck. The Spitfire motor is a COMPLETE, running motor with all accessories, starter, generator, dist., coil, wire harnesses, int. & exh. manifolds, carb, bellhousing, & good clutch, and will be sold. The trans may be included, to be decided later. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help.
