Dale, This is true only until the vehicle becomes a true collectible, which the P/W has.
If you're talking about a business mans coupe or something boring, yes, hot rodded it would be worth much more because it's worth X dollars to the hot rodder whereas it's worth zilch to the collector. I assure you, an altered from stock Dodge Power Wagon will never ever bring the money that a same condition bone stock truck will bring with a 230 or 251 flathead unless someone buys it that has too much money.
I love original Dodges, & I can appreciate a good modified truck, but whenever I see them I always think to myself, thank god you own it rather than me because although it's neat, you are going to lose plenty of money because of the alterations.
Moral of the story....keep installing those disc brakes & 318's fellas, because every one that is altered makes my trucks worth just that little bit more without my turning a wrench!
