Was looking at some old Geographics recently and read about an Antarctic expedition around 1960 where they had a couple "snow-cats" and a couple M29 weasels. There weren't any good pictures of the weasels, but there was an amazing picture of the snow-cat stuck across a crevasse. These snow-cats had 4 tracks with the front ones pivoting to steer (not skid-steer like most tracked vehicles).
I vaguely remember that the original Tucker snow-cats were built in Oregon starting with a Powerwagon chassis, cab and drivetrain. Anybody know anything about his?
There was also an article about building an nuclear-powered research camp under the ice up in the arctic somewhere, that had a picture of 2 weasles and an M37.
