OK, I've contained myself, but you asked again, so here goes; Try to trade that boat anchor for a 318. You'll get better hp, longevity and mileage from a 318. Second, the TH350 is junk for trucks, that is why they came out with the 450. The BEST auto tranny that you could install would be a 727, the best EVER made. By a major coincidence, it bolts right up to the 318. I had one in a 4X4 ¾ ton Dodge Van that I built (insert laugh here). It was behind a 340 horsepower 360. I put a B&M shift kit in it and it worked flawlessly. ( I am not known for babying my vehicles) One advantage the automatic has is being able to rock better in mud when you're stuck, being able to creep better in rocks, and it also somewhat compensates for the low rear end gear ratios.
