engine swap / pickup bed dimentions?

has anyone tried to put a jeep inline 6cyl. engine to replace the flat head? (specifically in a M-37) i am thinking of installing a late 90's grand cherikey 4.0L engine and possibly trany.

also what are the inside bed dimentions of a M-37 and a PW-1?

anyone know the earliest year that they produced the M-37?
