Look for a new Truck. Granted it's been a long time since I bought one but, man what have these people been smoking/drinking/sniffing?
The last truck I purchased new was in 1991. A F-150 XLT Lariat with the 300 inline 6 and a five speed. It had dual tanks and towing package. Except for a V-8 and automatic transmission that truck had everything. Total including TTL was $11,200. It is now owned by my nephew, has been through three clutchs and stills runs strong with 265,000 miles on the non-rebuilt motor.
I just went to the local dealer and the bottom of the line F-150 XL short bed with a V-6 is $20,000. Sure it's been eleven years but has inflation really been 10% a year?
Of course the used lot (excuse me!,pre-owned)
wasn't any better. Two to three year old trucks that were still priced at 85% of new. And by the way, when did low mileage come to mean anything up to 75,000 miles?
O.K. I'll go back in my cave now.
