Fred, you may remember the 20" Ford wheels that I had on my '48 B1PW. I was running 9.25X20 tires on them. As a general rule, the newer the Ford 20" wheel, the wider they seem to have been. These tires and wheels gave about a 10% increase in road speed verses the 20% gained by switching from 5.83:1 gears over to 4.89:1 gearing. The owner who installed these wheels 40+ years ago also cut out the rivits and rewelded the wheels to the centers to give a wider offset so the tires would not rub the frame on tight turns. They could no longer be dualed though.
