I am reasonably certain of the following: The 400 series was the same as the 300 series. The reason for the different designation had to do with the regular or unleaded fuel use. I belive the 400 was rated at 10100 GVW rather than the 10000 GVW for the 300, therefore it was not a "LightTruck" and could use regular fuel.
