The Getrag 5-speeds were the main problem spot with the '91's. I have an '87 Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel that I built using '91 frame and running gear that has the Chrysler 727 automatic transmission, and it has been very reliable. The '91 and earlier Diesels didn't have the cross flow radiator from the factory, and tended to run hot. Dodge paid for installation of cross flow radiators in these models, but you could possibly be looking at one that didn't get converted. Also, try to get a truck with the Dana 60 front, Dana 70 rear differentials. The Dana 44 front that was available is too weak to stand up to much power in the 3/4 ton trucks.
