safety ring rim question.

I have a set of safety ring 8 lug rims that I want to have powder coated. What is the best sequence to go about this? I understand that the tires have to be removed but I was warned by a friend that the ring / wheels will be "beat to sh%#*". to get the tires remounted. Are there other ways?
