Early cast sparetire mount

Awhile back ,I seem to recall someone saying the early cast sparetire mounts were in the process of being reproduced. Do I recall correctly or was it just an idea someone spoke of?
How common were the cast type(frame mounted)and are many 4-sale? If so, whats the going rate? I promise not to retort to anything said, no matter how asinine.
