Because we admire when doing a job meant doing work not pushing buttons. When things were built of steel and iron and not plastic.
When most people had a clue how to change a tire and maintain a vehicle.
Its probably the same reason people like steam engines, its a tangible link to our past in an every changing world we can touch and relate to.
