Head gasket spray

I pulled the head off a M37 i have to free up some valves i ordered a new gasket from Midwest .. a friend of mine said they always spray them with some sort of spray. I was going to ask john when i ordered the gasket but he is away till Monday. Does anybody spray theres with a coating. And whats a good thread sealer for the bolts in the water jacket
