The water pump I have is the shorter cast iron model (it was on the engine when I found it), with the water outlet on the left side. I had to relocate the radiator outlets for the pump to work.
The engine and pump came out of a 1972 D500, which was the last year of the old-style cabs on the medium duty trucks. I don't know if the 1973 and later trucks used the same water pump or not. I had to shorten the fan spacer about 3/8", and I have 3/4" between the fan and the radiator.
