I have never seen those from M Series Rebuild. I do know that others make and/or have made them and the quality can vary.
I don't know who John Waak sourced his bases from.
Just trying to shed some light on why some reproduction parts may leave something to be desired. Without any datums, flat surfaces, or straight edges, I don't even know how I would go about inspecting reproduction bases. An optical comparator may be useful. A CMM would be much better. But I can't imagine someone wanting to invest the tens of thousands of dollars on a quality CMM to inspect only headlight bases.
