Do your remember Paul Lacy? He was an Alumni of the birth of the movement for the interest in Power-Wagons that took off in the 1970's, and which I credit with leading us to where we are today.
He told me many years ago that he cut his own fuel pump diaphragms from old rubber raincoats. I have never tried it, but he swore that they worked (and lasted) better than modern replacements.
