The other thing to mention…and very important on most vehicles…just not really critical on these 45mph tractors :)
So your steering box only has zero play right at dead center. So it’s important to center the steering box and when the truck is rolling sbsolutely straight that’s where your tie rods have been aligned. That’s the only position where you won’t have play in the steering.
That’s all said…I don’t think a little play on these old contraptions is going to hinder operation :)
