Front end shimmy at takeoff!!!

I'm hoping somebody could help me. I have a 1975 Powerwagon, it is a 3/4 ton 4x4 and is full time 4-wheel. It also has an automatic transmission. When I take off from a stop and I am turning either right or left I get a pretty good shimmy transfered thru steering wheel. It feels almost like turning with 4 wheel engaged on a dry surface, except it isn't to that extent. I've gotten different opinions, some say it needs a steering stabilizer, some say new u-joints in front driveline, and some said it might have worn steering parts. Although steering is fairly tight yet. I've never experienced this and I was hoping someone could help me out. Thanks
